Join our collaborative/collegial team as a physician scientist or academic physician in Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy. We seek a clinical and translational researcher with interest in post-transplant immunological complications, use of novel cellular therapies for cancer treatment, and use of bone marrow stem cells in transplant and regenerative medicine.


Duties include direct patient care, protected time to develop a research or teaching program, teaching learners and enhancing/supporting efforts regarding diversity in clinical trial participants.

Job Requirements

MD, DO or equivalent.


Completion of an accredited fellowship training program in hematology and/or medical oncology.


Must be eligible for Wisconsin medical license.


Experience in clinical, translational or basic science research, with a track record of successful publications in peer reviewed journals, strong written and verbal communication skills, commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, evidence of excellence in teaching and current or high potential to obtain extramural funding. Through these efforts, the ability to enhance national recognition for our division and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center.


Program Description

Our stem cell transplant program has been FACT accredited since 2001, performing about 140-180 SCT yearly (60-70 allo-SCT yearly and 80-100 auto-SCT year) in recent years. We are a certified treatment center for all the FDA-approved commercial CART products for ALL, variety of lymphomas and multiple myeloma. Our CART patient volume had been doubling in the past 3 years, and we anticipate reaching 80-100 CART treatments per year with further growth in the coming years. In addition, we are actively participating in significant number of consortium and industry-sponsored cell therapy trials. We are conducting novel investigator-initiated therapeutic trials such as using alpha/beta T cell depleted haploidentical transplantation for the treatment of relapsed pediatric neuroblastoma and sarcomas. Our program is also developing institutional cell therapy trials including CRISPR/Cas9 generated CAR T cells for solid tumors and CNS malignancies, and ex vivo activated/expanded NK cells to treat neuroblastoma and osteogenic sarcoma, alpha/beta T cell and B cell depleted prophylactic donor lymphocyte infusion to prevent disease relapse after allo-SCT for patients with high risk of disease relapse. Additional investigator-initiated trials will be planned in collaboration with the excellent basic and translational researchers within the division, department and the institution.


Clinical research is conducted in the UW Carbone Cancer Center: 18 multi-disciplinary Disease Oriented Teams 170 UWCCC investigators regularly enroll patients to therapeutic intervention trials. UW is an affiliate member of the BMT Clinical Trials Network and a member of the NCCN, ECOG- ACRIN, Alliance, BigTen Cancer Research Consortium, Wisconsin Oncology Network (WON) and Wisconsin Association of Hematology and Oncology (WAHO).


The Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care as part of the department of medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is a vibrant academic division comprising more than 60 faculty members in 9 subspecialty programs.
