What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lecturer in History position at University of Wisconsin Madison?
Teach the following courses in Fall 2025:
This position will teach History 201 - The Historian's Craft, Power and Protest in 1960s Cold War America. This is a 3-credit course with an enrollment cap of 15.
This position will also teach History 401 - A Public History of US Landmarks and Culture. This is a 3-credit course with an enrollment cap of 15.
This position is responsible for preparing all course materials, administering and grading exams and homework. This position is expected to create assignments, exams, homework and hold office hours to meet with students.
- 80% Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
- 10% Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
- 10% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

Preferred
PhD or other terminal degree required in history or related field
Demonstrated record of or potential for superior scholarly accomplishments and previous college/university-level teaching experience preferred.
Work Type:Part Time: 66.7%
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
Terminal, 4 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding
Minimum $50,000 ACADEMIC (9 months)
Depending on Qualifications
There is a possibility this position could be extended in subsequent semesters to teach the same or similar courses within the department. This position could become renewable if there is a need for an ongoing appointment.
