Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking outstanding candidates for one open rank tenure-track faculty position. Desirable candidates should be able to a) secure extramural funding to support distinguished research, b) publish research in high quality refereed journals, (c) provide exemplary graduate student training and undergraduate instruction. The appointment will be shared between the Departments of Medicine in the School of Medicine and Public Health and Kinesiology in the School of Education.

Appointment start date will be August 2025.
* Appointment will be full time for the twelve-month calendar year.
* Salary is competitive and contingent on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:

Specific position responsibilities include:
1) Pursue extramural funding to support research
2) Publish research in high quality refereed scientific journals
3) Mentor/advise graduate and undergraduate students
4) Participate in graduate and/or undergraduate teaching activities.
5) Participate in interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts with other departments, schools and colleges on campus.
6) Participate in faculty governance and other service to the university, department, and profession.

Education:

Required
* PhD or equivalent advanced degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physiology and/or related fields
* Earned doctorate by July 2020. Post-doctoral research experience in cellular muscle physiology and energetics of aging human skeletal muscle required.

Expertise in the study of physical activity, movement and/or occupation as it relates to healthy aging/lifespan (healthspan) and well-being.
Possible areas of expertise include (but are not limited to):
o Relationship between physical activity, movement and/or occupation and the physiological determinants of health
o Biomarkers of health
o New technologies to study fatigue and the limits of human performance

Qualifications:

* Post-doctoral research experience (required).
* For applicants at the assistant professor level - Evidence of established scholarship and ongoing extramural funding
* For applicants at the associate level - Evidence of scholarship with international significance and ongoing record of securing substantial extramural funding
* Record of publication in high quality refereed scientific journals
* Evidence of successful teaching experience at the university level (required).

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

This position is part of the Wisconsin Research, Innovation and Scholarly Excellence (RISE) Initiative. Over the next three academic years, UW-Madison will substantially increase current hiring levels, bringing 150 new RISE faculty to campus. Candidates hired through RISE will join a community of scholars working across disciplines, schools and colleges on research, teaching and outreach endeavors. The community will engage regularly in venues such as seminar series and colloquia to share ongoing projects and identify opportunities to work together. The University will support the community, facilitating access to research infrastructure, and funding to support broad and rich collaboration.
