The Office of Undergraduate Admissions (OUA) is housed in the Division of Enrollment Management, home to the Student Success Center, Financial Aid Office, Student Advising, Career Planning and more. OUA is tasked with attracting and enrolling undergraduate students to UWM’s campuses. The department oversees recruitment, visits and events, operations (application processing), the CRM (Slate), marketing and communications. The team works to attract undergraduate students from a variety of groups: first time freshmen, first generation college students, transfer students, re-entry students, adult students.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing positive and exciting direction, development, and oversight of campus visit experiences offered through the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Office of Undergraduate Admissions. In support of Departmental, campus and UWM enrollment management goals, the incumbent coordinates the Office of Undergraduate Admissions (OUA) daily tours and group tours as a part of the unit’s recruitment efforts. This position oversees 30-40 student Campus Ambassadors, including leadership development of student staff.
The employee works closely with internal and external partners to ensure tour programs are well-defined, promoted and executed, and effectively interface with campus-wide efforts. This individual further supports recruitment and outreach efforts through oversight of the Welcome Center operations.
The position reports to the Assistant Director for Visit Programs and serves as a fully engaged member of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Minimum Qualifications
The employee works closely with internal and external partners to ensure tour programs are well-defined, promoted and executed, and effectively interface with campus-wide efforts. This individual further supports recruitment and outreach efforts through oversight of the Welcome Center operations.
The position reports to the Assistant Director for Visit Programs and serves as a fully engaged member of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
- Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate work experience. While the major field is not critical, majors in social work, student personnel, business, guidance, and counseling related fields would provide a strong background for this position
- Prior work experience working with high school and/or college students
- Experience planning events and managing complex projects
- Prior experience giving public presentations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (as evidenced by application materials and interviews, where applicable)
- Prior experience supervising staff (student and/or professional)
- Experience working with customer relationship management (CRM) tracking systems or other student communication or tracking systems
- Bilingual in Spanish
