The Occupational Therapy, Science and Technology Programs (OTST) are consistently ranked among the best in the nation. The mission of the OTST programs is to provide integrated learning individualized clinical experiences, and research opportunities to develop comprehensively prepared occupational therapists and scientists. The University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee’s Program in Occupational Therapy, Science, Technology & Rehabilitation is seeking qualified ad hoc lecturers to teach courses in Occupational Therapy in Mental Health. This position provides an opportunity to educate future occupational therapists in essential aspects of mental health and psychosocial rehabilitation.
This is a fixed-term appointment – courses will run 8 weeks, and the dates for both courses are 5/27/25 – 7/19/25.
Courses Available for Instruction in Summer 2025:
- Occ Thpy 719: Occupational Therapy in Psychosocial Practice
- Occ Thpy 710: Community Models of Occupational Therapy Practice
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and deliver high-quality course content related to occupational therapy in mental health and psychosocial rehabilitation.
- Develop syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and exams that align with program goals and accreditation standards.
- Facilitate classroom discussions, providing timely and constructive feedback to students.
- Ensure course materials are inclusive and accessible, adhering to university standards.
- Maintain office hours and/or virtual availability to assist students outside of class.
- Currently Wisconsin licensed Occupational Therapist or eligible for State of Wisconsin Occupational Therapy License.
- Master’s or doctoral degree in occupational therapy or a related field with a focus on mental health and psychosocial rehabilitation.
- Proven expertise in the subject areas for which you are applying to teach.
- Clinical experience in mental health occupational therapy and psychosocial rehabilitation practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge in community-based occupational therapy models.
- Familiarity with online learning platforms such as Canvas, D2L, or Blackboard.
- Prior teaching experience at the university level.
