Position Summary
Inspects, maintains, and repairs specialized equipment and facilities to ensure property meets established standards and to prevent further damage. Assists with construction, design and operational maintenance as needed.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes specialized equipment to repair and maintain complex machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation
- Performs routine and non-routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness
- Troubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and procedures
- Receives, inspects, inventories, and distributes deliveries independently to appropriate entities
- Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Required:
- High school diploma.
- Work experience in building maintenance, 2 years minimum.
- Knowledge of building and facilities maintenance methods, practices, and techniques
- Analytical skills necessary to diagnose and correct failures in equipment and related systems.
- Ability to engage in all job-related customer service interactions and activities with contacts from within and outside the University in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ability for timely communication with styles that are approachable and respectable
- Engage in active listening
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and effectively organize work to be productive.
- Ability to perform all essential job functions accurately and safely with minimal direct supervision.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics
- Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license that permits Wisconsin certification to drive University vehicles
- Must have sufficient physical flexibility to stoop, crawl under equipment and other low spaces to perform preventive maintenance tasks.
- Must be physically able to lift your arms above your head in order to reach equipment
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding, and work at heights above 30 feet to reach equipment.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to enter, exit, and perform duties in confined spaces occasionally.
- Ability to utilize a computer for Microsoft Office programs: Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Successful completion of a post-offer employment physical test.

The pay rate is $25.50 per hour
The selected candidate must be able to pass a post-offer employment test and hold a valid driver’s license to obtain Wisconsin certification to drive University vehicles.
A six-month probationary period is required.
