Department Description
The College of Fine Arts & Communication (COFAC) consists of three units that include both liberal arts and professional degree programs: The School of Design & Communication (Art/Art History, Graphic Design, Interior Architecture, Media Studies, Pre-Art Therapy, and Professional Communication); The School of Performing Arts including the Department of Music (Jazz Studies, Music Education, Music Performance) and the Department of Theatre & Dance (Acting, Arts Management, Dance, Drama, Musical Theatre, and Theatre Design and Technology); and the Suzuki Programs (The Aber Suzuki Center and the American Suzuki Institute) with approximately seventy faculty and staff, and twenty degree programs, minors and certificates. UW-Stevens Point has a long history of distinguished programs in the arts and communication fields and is the only institution in the state in which all fine and performing arts programs are nationally accredited: Art & Design (NASAD and CIDA), Dance (NASD), Music (NASM), and Theatre (NAST). The college provides between 350-400 educational and cultural events for the campus and broader community each year and is an active community partner.

JOB DETAILS:
Position Summary
As chief administrator of the college, the Dean is responsible for all matters relating to its academic programs, personnel, budget, facilities, professional development, external fundraising, university relations, community relations, student development and the advancement of the arts and communication.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications
- Terminal degree in an appropriate field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
- Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, management, and administration within a complex organization.
- Evidence of scholarly, pedagogical, creative, and/or other professional achievements that will merit a tenured faculty appointment at the level of professor in one of the departments of the college.
- Documented experience in developing and managing a budget and aligning it with the strategic priorities and mission of the college.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all constituencies, particularly with regional communities.
- Ability to be the college's ambassador and foster partnerships among academic, business, health care, education, and other stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to create a shared vision, lead change, and successfully implement strategic priorities.
- Experience with external fundraising.
- Demonstrated experience in the promotion and advancement of equity, diversity, and inclusivity.
- Demonstrated experience preparing for and completing accreditation processes.

This is a limited position, exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act. Limited appointees serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority and are subject to Chapter UWS 15, Wisconsin Administrative Code, Wisconsin Statutes, Sections. 36.17, and UW System UPG #3.
