The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) resides in the UW-Stevens Point Office of Continuing Education which extends university programs and resources beyond the campus by offering non-credit courses, workshops, and conferences to meet the learning needs of audiences of all ages.

JOB DETAILS:
Position Summary
The Director of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provides leadership, oversight, and operational management for the Center. This position requires a strategic, hands-on leader with strong business development expertise, a commitment to supporting small businesses, and the ability to manage partnerships with local and state agencies, businesses, and community organizations. The Director ensures service delivery, client support, and stakeholder engagement while maintaining compliance with grant and funding requirements. Additionally, they will provide overall management to a team of consultants and programmers while advising both startup and existing small businesses within nine counties. The Director also implements a plan of action for small business activities, conferences, and educational opportunities that connect UWSP resources with the business community throughout North and Central Wisconsin. This position requires an entrepreneurial, enterprising, and creative individual. It requires driving a state vehicle, possessing a valid drivers' license, and independent travel is a core function of this job.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or a related field
- 5 years of professional experience related to entrepreneurship and/or economic development
- Experience working in business or related consulting
- Experience managing multiple budgets
- Experience reviewing financial statements
- Experienced supervisor
- Ability to comply with client confidentiality agreement
- Demonstrated evidence of an entrepreneurial mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business Administration or a related field
- Work experience in marketing, accounting, lending, and/or finance
- Experience in public speaking or instruction
- Exceptional problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience using Zoom, WorkDay, Microsoft Teams, LivePlan, One Drive, Office 365, and/or Chat GPT

Terms of Employment
This is an Academic Staff annual appointment, exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
