Office Manager, Disability Services


The Office Manager provides support to a collaborative team within the Disability Services (DS) office. The successful candidate will establish and maintain strong public relations and interpersonal skills with college students with disabilities, faculty, staff, student staff and university departments. This position assists in coordination and implementation of testing accommodations and note-taking services for students with disabilities. Provides support in office compliance with disability laws and amendments. Additionally, this position assists with other duties within the DS office including but not limited to assisting other staff with the coordination of accommodations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum / Required


  • High school diploma
  • Evidence of computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Budget management and record-keeping knowledge and skill
  • Evidence of interpersonal and customer service skills


Highly Desired

  • Bachelor¿s degree in business administration, management, or related field
  • Experience working in a higher education environment
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Ability to handle challenging situations with composure and successfully problem-solve
  • Excellent judgment including sensitivity to personal and confidential information
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously with minimal supervisory oversight
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment
  • Experience supervising student workers or other staff


RESPONSIBILITIES


The Office Manager provides office support by answering telephone, taking messages, scheduling appointments for staff using the Outlook calendar system, copying, and making necessary arrangements for meetings. The Office Manager utilizes campus wide computer systems to generate reports and will become proficient in use of the department¿s AIM database.


This position processes invoices and payments to outside vendors and contractors, manages and maintains confidential records, and researches and compiles data for use in reports. The Office Manager maintains all account activity for accounts administered by Disability Services.


This position assists in the coordination of exams with students and faculty and ensures that students have equal access by following federal mandates (ADA, ADAAA and Section 504). Other duties include scheduling exams on test accommodation calendar, coordinates arrangements for sign language interpreters, completes hiring paperwork for student employees, and partners with the Testing Coordinator to procure exams in a timely manner, receive and store exams in a secure location, and returns exams per instructor¿s request. The Office Manager coordinates logistics for peer note-takers and classroom lab assistants and maintains related inventory of assistive technology.


The Office Manager Interacts positively withboth internal and external customers, projecting a positive, supportive and inviting image of the office and performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Disability Services.

Minimum starting hourly wage of $18.50, commensurate with qualifications and experience. A six-month probationary period is required.
