ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Reporting to the Executive Director of the University Union & Auxiliary Services the Phoenix Store Manager provides general oversight, management and supervision of the Phoenix Store operations. This position is responsible for staff supervision, inventory management, budgeting, procurement, and customer service. In this role, we are looking for a candidate that strives to create a welcoming, equitable and inclusive work environment.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Directs and audits customer services and/or retail program operations to ensure customer service objectives are met.
  • Develops and schedules unit operational work plans.
  • Implements operational procedures, methods, and policies to achieve established goals, meet compliance requirements, and ensure effective service.
  • Provides operational and strategic guidance to all unit staff.
  • May create and monitor the unit operating budget and approve expenditures.
  • Identifies, develops, and facilitates staff training opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree at time of hire from an accredited institution
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Excellent communication and/or documentation skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in business, management, retail or related field
  • Experience hiring, training and supervising staff
  • Experience working in retail environment
  • Experience purchasing inventory for retail store
  • Experience working at a college or university college store

SPECIAL NOTES:


Some travel is required for necessary meetings, tradeshows, conferences, trainings, etc. Occasional evening and/or weekend work is expected based on time of year and needs of Phoenix Store.

The home campus of this position is Green Bay and the successful candidate may occasionally be required to travel to or work at the Marinette, Sheboygan or Manitowoc Campus, based on operational needs.

Position is a full-time Academic Staff appointment. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s) and if there is prior work history within the last 7 years with Universities of Wisconsin, a personnel file review check for employee misconduct. SALARY INFORMATION

Salary range of $54,000-$58,000.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

BENEFIT DETAILS

UW System provides an excellent benefits package to meet the diverse needs of its employees. This includes several health insurance options, with annual deductibles as low as $250/individual and $500/family. Our benefits package also includes dental, vision, several life insurance options, AD&D and Accident insurance and Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts. We participate in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), where employer contributions begin immediately and employees are fully vested after 5 years of service. The UW System also provides supplemental retirement savings programs including a 403(b) and Deferred Compensation.

In addition, employees receive several types of paid leave benefits, which are prorated for employees working less than 100%. This includes 9 legal holidays, 36 hours of personal holiday and between 96-130 hours of sick leave annually. Employees earn 13-27 days of vacation each year, depending on years of service and employment type.
