ATTENTION :
The Department of Art and Design in the College of Arts and Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor (FA040) in the area of Sculpture beginning August, 2025.
JOB DETAILS :
This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position with teaching responsibilities for undergraduate courses within the Department of Art and Design. The instructional assignment includes 3D-Design (Foundations), all levels of Sculpture (I, II, III, IV & V), and a general education lecture course, World of the Arts (WOTA).
The Sculpture lab / studio was recently upgraded with a multimillion-dollar renovation. We seek candidates from a variety of perspectives who will take an active interest in progressing the Sculpture program through the integration of digital processes and technologies, such as 3D printing and laser cutting / etching, CNC milling, etc., as well as traditional practices.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Minimum Qualifications :
- MFA or equivalent terminal degree in Sculpture or Studio Art with a focus in Sculpture is required. ABD candidates may apply but must have their degree completed by the contract start date in August 2025; if not, they will be hired on a one-year contract with the understanding that their degree will be completed before January 2026 in advance of their first scheduled review.
- Candidates should have experience operating and managing a Sculpture studio / classroom, including a metal fabrication area, digital design lab, foundry, and a general work area.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS :
Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary of $53,000. UW System employees receive an excellent benefit package.
