Job Summary :

As a member of the School of Veterinary Medicine's Communications Team, the Communications Specialist supports both the strategic and tactical needs of the communications team and school.

Responsibilities :

  • Monitors reach and effectiveness of communication campaigns, projects, and initiatives (20%)
  • Plans editorial content according to established goals and objectives (10%)
  • Communicates with stakeholders to verify requests and identify editorial resources (5%)
  • Writes, edits, and publishes content for various communication projects and marketing platforms to align with strategic initiatives and established communication campaigns (25%)
  • Provides project management and execution of communications programs, initiatives, and tactical plans (20%)
  • Assists in creating and maintaining data / lists related to distribution of e-newsletters and print mailings (5%)
  • Supports the school's digital content producer with storytelling needs and online presence including photography, videography, website management, social media, and management of the school's digital asset library (5%)
  • Executes various communications tasks as assigned, including supporting student workers in the department (5%)
  • Supports the school's Communications Director and Publications & Media Relations Manager in all aspects of media relations, particularly monitoring news coverage, maintaining media contact lists, and reporting results / coverage (5%)

Education :

Required : Bachelor's Degree

Preferred : Focus in communications, journalism, English, and / or marketing.

Qualifications :

Minimum 2 years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, and / or web, social & digital media required. Great storytelling and project management skills required, along with demonstrated ability to learn new technology tools and platforms. Familiarity with the veterinary medical and / or clinical and foundational science fields and / or higher education is also strongly preferred. Photography, photo editing, and some basic graphic design experience is preferred.

Work Type :

Part time or Full Time : 75-100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Minimum : $48,107 ANNUAL (12 months)
