We are seeking an experienced Research Data Scientist in Data Quality for the Wisconsin Health Data Hub (WHDH) program, recently funded by the EDA as part of the Tech Hub () initiative, and drives transformative data science projects to enhance healthcare and research at SMPH.

Join our dynamic Informatics and Information Technology team at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison, Wisconsin. We are committed to revolutionizing healthcare through implementation of advanced data science approaches, conducting cutting-edge data-centric research, and generating real-world evidence to improve patient health outcomes at UW Health and beyond. The Research Data Scientist (Data Quality) will be responsible for quality assurance and quality control of the data and will work with data stewards at the participating sites of WHDH to resolve any identified data inconsistencies as well as provide leadership for development of overall organizational program development. The incumbent will be responsible for providing training sessions on tools, data standardization, data, and metadata to reduce the barriers for effective use of data by researchers.
On a day-to-day basis, the incumbent could expect to engage in the following activities in supporting researchers that use WHDH services :
- Develop and implement data quality frameworks and processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data.
- Conduct data profiling, data cleansing, and data validation activities to identify and resolve data quality issues.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to define data quality requirements and establish data quality metrics.
- Design and execute data quality assessments and audits to monitor data quality performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Utilize statistical and machine learning techniques to detect anomalies and patterns in data that may indicate quality issues.
- Develop and maintain data quality dashboards and reports to provide visibility into data quality metrics and trends.
- Provide guidance and best practices for data quality management to ensure data integrity across the organization.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in data quality methodologies and tools.
Responsibilities : Contributes to a research agenda set by a lead researcher by preparing data sets, analyzing them using data science techniques, and presenting the results. May work independently or as part of a team.
