What are the responsibilities and job description for the Asst Farm Mgr, Research position at University of Wyoming?
The University of Wyoming is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Assistant Farm Manager. As a key member of our agricultural research team, you will be responsible for assisting in livestock management and farming practices associated with our University Agricultural Research Center.
This position involves on-call status, and employees in essential positions may be required to work during emergency closures and winter closure based on the nature of their job duties and the reasons for the closure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage production cow-calf herd, including calving, branding, grazing management, processing, and vaccination.
- Daily use of feed management software and data entry.
- Oversee testing facility that utilizes VyTelle feed intake nodes, monitoring and maintaining feeding data.
- General care and treatment of animals, including branding, castrating, veterinary care, and dehorning cattle.
- Manage, supervise, and participate in ground preparation, irrigation, fertilization, application of chemicals, harvesting of hay and other production crops.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in an Ag-related field or equivalent combination of experience.
- 2 years of work-related experience.
- Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
- CDL or willingness to attain.
- Valid Wyoming Commercial Pesticide Applicator's license or willingness to attain.
- BQA certification.
