JOB TITLE :
Director, International and Education Risk, Claims & Insurance - Risk Management Office
JOB PURPOSE :
Responsible for managing and overseeing the University of Wyoming's (UW) international, educational, and student health insurance, claims processing and risk management functions, ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal regulations. This position is responsible for handling claims related to educational and international activities, collaborating with multiple departments, managing insurance programs, and providing critical administrative support to the Risk Management office. This position will analyze complex financial and operational data, develop risk mitigation strategies, and implement best practices across UW's risk management and claims processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Risk Management Services :
- Provide risk management guidance and support to UW departments, external entities, and individuals, answering questions and offering advice on various aspects of risk management and insurance.
- Provide Risk Management support services to Global Engagement
- Manage electronic tracking, notice, event management software / vendor relationships
- Assist in the development and maintenance of UW's Risk Management policies and procedures, ensuring compliance across the organization.
- Act as the primary liaison between UW and insurance carriers, brokers, actuaries, and other external vendors to facilitate communication and data gathering.
- Support the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) in analyzing and mitigating risks related to daily operations, special events, international travel, experiential learning, and other high-risk activities.
- Assist in risk analysis for international and domestic travel, including pre-trip planning, safety reviews, and emergency response strategies for faculty, students, and staff.
- Support UW's loss control activities, including the implementation of safety protocols and the management of risk mitigation measures.
- Address and resolve risk-related complaints in a timely and effective manner.
- Oversee and manage special projects related to risk management, including system upgrades, training initiatives, and compliance audits.

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.
