JOB TITLE:
Retail Dining Barista
JOB PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for coffee and food service preparations in the coffee shops on campus. Locations worked at will be either Rolling Mill Cafe, Book & Bean, Encore, Rendezvous Cafe, Elements, or Einstein Bagel. At the coffee shops on campus, you will provide individually crafted drinks, pastries, and construct sandwiches along with various other food items for customers in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for cleaning, stocking, and maintaining the location while providing excellent customer service. Jobs offers flexible hours, class schedule accommodations, and some shifts may include a free lunch.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cooking and preparation of food items
Drink preparation
Daily cleaning of the location, equipment, and dining area
Order taking
Customer service
Organized and stage storage of product, both perishable and non-perishable
Monitor food temperatures within ServSafe guidelines
Cash handling /cashier
Use sanitation and safety procedures properly and efficiently in all areas of the locations.
Flexibility of both work location and schedule at times.
Good communication skills with regards to availability, scheduling needs, and understanding of position both with management and coworkers.
Position is temporary by semester, with opportunity to return based upon job performance.
WORK LOCATION ELIGIBILITY:
This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Good communicator
Respectful of others
Time management skills
Willing to learn new things daily
Ability to work in a kitchen environment and stand for long periods of time with or without accommodations
Ability to lift 30 lbs. with or without accommodations
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience as a Barista
Experience in Food Service
Experience with cash handling in a retail or dining setting
