JOB TITLE : Research Aide
JOB PURPOSE :
The student will work closely with Dr. Jake Hawes and Dr. Rebecca Witinok-Huber to assemble a social vulnerability index customized to the unique economic and environmental conditions of Wyoming. The student will have the opportunity to work as part of a team including geographers, atmospheric scientists, and natural resource social scientists to compare this vulnerability index to local, high resolution climate modeling. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Work in a team to conduct research, learn about climate change and social vulnerability, and gain expertise in data science. Specifically, this will include :
- Explore existing social vulnerability indicators and compare their composition
- Collect secondary data for use in a custom indicator
- Explore what makes climate change in Wyoming unique - what are we missing with national or global indicators?
- Compile possible indicators, ideally in a spatial format (GIS)
REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY :
This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.
