JOB TITLE:
Van Driver
JOB PURPOSE:
Safely transport passengers for the SafeRide and/or Paratransit services that provide transportation on an “on-demand” basis.
DEMAND RESPONSE DETAILS:
Paratransit:
provides complementary ADA transportation for those with disabilities.
Hours of operations: Monday - Friday 6:00am - 11:00pm
SafeRide:
provides alternate night and weekend public transportation
Hours of operations:
Monday - Saturday 9:30pm - 2:30am
Saturday & Sunday 9:30am - 10:30pm
Scheduling
:
Ideal position for college students or those needing
flexibility
in scheduling
Employees can work one or both services
Scheduling is based on an availability matrix and is discussed in the interview
Pay:
$15.15 - $16.85/hr, depending on service
Competitive pay raises

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Other requirements:
Must be 18 years of age
Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the
University Vehicle Use Policy
.
A CDL license is NOT required for the position.
Must be able to comply with the University Drug & Alcohol Policy.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening. Random drug and/or alcohol screenings will be required and will occur on scheduled shifts.
Pass required background check
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safely operate UW transit vehicles to include the transportation of passengers, and operate ADA equipment.
Perform safety inspections of vehicles to ensure equipment is operating within safe parameters. Maintain inventory of equipment.
Assist with shop and vehicle cleaning.
Orient and train new employees as required.
Provide excellent customer service, offer assistance and answer questions from passengers as required.
All other duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Limited dispatch opportunities, can be discussed if interested.
REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:
This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.
