DEPARTMENT INFORMATION :
Through interactive collaboration with students and campus partners, the Disability Support Services Office facilitates academic access at the University of Wyoming. We extend support to students with disabilities, offering tailored accommodations and services. Beyond our student-centric focus, we actively engage with the broader university community, educating staff, faculty, and students on the importance of accessibility and inclusion.
Yes, DSS provides disability-related accommodations for UW students and visitors with disabilities as well as technical assistance, consultation and resource information for students, faculty, staff, campus visitors and university departments seeking to improve accessibility for individuals with disabilities
Job location : Knight Hall First Floor
Pay rate or range : $12.00 per hour
JOB PURPOSE :
Support the Disability Support Services Offices with varied tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Main Office duties : Welcome students, staff, faculty and visitors. Answer phone calls and assist with appointments, testing scheduling. Be versed on DSS resources and services. Provide basic office support : filing, shredding, making copies, and providing quality customer services
Testing : Assist admin on all aspects and procedure on scheduling, proctoring, and submitting exams. Use good judgements on monitoring testers for test integrity. Ensure proper access to testing items : computer, laptops, software, etc. Provide testing accommodations for students, exam rooms, scribing, etc. Able to follow instructions and work independently.
Alternative format : Support DSS staff; scanning books, other print materials, editing scanned / electronic material, with instruction and guidance be able to turn scanned material into alternative format : e.g auditory files, enlarged docs, etc. Ability to use scanners, programs, Microsoft word and Adobe
REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY :
This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education : HS diploma or GED and current UW student. May be of particular interest to education, social work or psychology majors.
Experience : No experience necessary.
Other requirements : Must be eligible, have received and accepted work study award through Student Financial Aid for the applicable semester and / or academic year.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS : Ability to follow DSS protocols and maintain strict confidentiality. Attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work as a team member and work independently without supervision. Dependable, reliable and able to maintain a consistent schedule. Desire to learn about DSS and assistive technology. Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office,
