Applications are invited for a highly motivated Research Trainee to join Dr Beth Bell’s Nextresearch group in the Department of Education at the University of York. The Research Trainee will work on a project funded by the Nuffield Foundation, entitled “Improving wellbeing-focused online media literacy in schools”. The project will explore the effectiveness of wellbeing-focused online media literacy interventions in English secondary schools by:
- Conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis of existing research to identify effective interventions and their components
- Engaging in thirty interviews with Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) teachers to understand their decision-making and identify any barriers to implementation, and
- Working with RSHE teachers and curriculum resources developers to produce practical ‘what works’ guidance for teachers.
Role
The Research Trainee Position Is For 20 Months On a Part-time Basis (0.5fte). It Provides An Excellent Career Development Opportunity For a Current Or Aspiring PhD Student. The Successful Candidate Will
- Contribute to the development a robust systematic review protocol and its successful delivery
- Recruit participants, conduct interviews and co-production workshops, and support other aspects of data collection
- Assist in writing academic papers
- Participate in dissemination activities
- Provide general administrative support to the project and research team
- Undergraduate degree in psychology, education, or related area
- Knowledge of a range of research techniques and methodologies, including systematic reviews and meta-analysis
- Experience of working with research data
- Ability to plan and prioritise own work in order to meet deadlines
