University Orthopaedic Associates – a Division of Ortho NJ, is a leading private orthopaedic practice which provides a full spectrum of orthopaedic care. Our board certified surgeons each with subspecialty training offer the best care in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, joint replacement, traumatology, hand and upper extremity surgery, foot and ankle surgery and surgery of the spine.
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team in our Somerset Office as a Full-Time Patient Coordinator.
Qualified Candidates:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of (2) years of previous experience in a hospital or physician office setting
- Knowledge of managed care referral/ pre-certification procedures
- Medical, orthopedic terminology a plus
- Experience working with confidential patient records and EMR systems
Responsibilities:
- Schedule appointments based on company policies and procedures. Candidate will be required to proofread and maintain accuracy at all levels of the appointment process
- Verify patient’s Insurance benefit, eligibility and referral process
- Scanning documents into patient chart through Phoenix EMR
- Faxing documents as needed
- Accessing documents from several hospital systems
- Confirmation of appointments
- Greeting patients upon their arrival. Guide new patients (NP) through the registration process, ensuring all new patient packets are completed in their entirety, signed and initialed where required, and that copies of insurance cards and picture ID’s are scanned correctly in the EMR. Review all insurance and demographic information with returning patients and enter all changes in system. Yearly renewal of HIPAA and abbreviated intake sheet is required of all patients.
- Posting charges, collecting co-pays, close and reconcile at the close of each day
In this highly visible role, you will be interacting with patients, families and health care providers. Excellent communication skills, writing and interpersonal skills are required. Must be able to multitask. Bilingual is a plus.
