Medical Assistant Dermatology

University Park Dermatology is seeking a motivated and versatile Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care and support to our patients. Responsibilities:

• Greet patients warmly and escort them to the examination room.
• Obtain and accurately document patient history, including skin history, past medical history, current medications/allergies, and the chief complaint for the patient's visit, along with a history of present illness, utilizing our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
• Assist healthcare providers in skin biopsy procedures, which includes preparing instruments and surgical trays, administering local anesthesia, capturing photos of the anatomical location in the EMR, labeling specimen bottles appropriately, and preparing biopsy requisitions for laboratory processing based on the patient's insurance requirements.
• Support healthcare providers in various dermatologic procedures, including surgical excisions and MOHS.
• Remain knowledgeable about the patient's past medical history conditions, allergies, and medications to ensure the absence of contraindications to procedures/medications being performed or prescribed.
• Handle telephone messages and provide feedback, as well as answer inquiries from patients, physicians, and pharmacies.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems for documentation and record-keeping.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling the delivery of professional and courteous patient care.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
• Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving practice.
• Willingness to learn and grow, with a passion for the field of dermatology.
