What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant position at University Pet Hospital and Diagnostic Center?
We are in search of a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team! This position will be best suited for team players who enjoy working and caring for pets. We are AHAA accredited, cat friendly certified, and Fear Free.
Some duties of the job include the following:
- Monitor hospitalized pets / Monitor/aid in caring for animals after surgery
- Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims
- Aiding with routine diagnostic tests (i.e. Taking radiographs,)
- Maintain & sterilize surgical instruments/equipment.
- Clean/Disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas of hospital
- Administering medications under Veterinarian supervision
- Feeding/bathing animals
- Helping clients with their pets
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 yrs old or older
- Must be a self-starter, able to multitask and a team player.
- Have good attendance and time management
- Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
- Prefer 1 years of experience, but not required.
