Description
University Physicians’ Association is seeking an experienced New Patient Coordinator at University Cancer Specialists.
Job Type: Full-time, Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm
New Patient Coordinator Duties:
- Monitor incoming referrals by fax, email, and telephone
- Input accurate information into our EMR system for new and existing patients
- Regularly communicate with our physicians, nurse practitioners, RNs, patients, and referring offices
- Handle sensitive information and abide by HIPAA rules
- Ensure all necessary paperwork is collected and verified
- Understand the practices policies and accepted insurances
- Contact referring offices to gather missing or undocumented information
- Contact referred patient to gather missing information
- Create appointments in scheduling book and notify patient/referring office
- Keep detailed log of all incoming referrals
- Assist with answering incoming phone calls when phone operators are out or on another line
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements
- Must be reliable and have excellent follow up skills

- Must have the ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a Medical Office setting preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Must be a self-starter and a team player
- EXCELLENT telephone etiquette
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Empathetic with good listening skills
- Ability to arrive on time for scheduled shifts
