Summary:

A principal manager is a leadership position designed to support the success of school principals across the network. Through coaching, collaboration, and strategic support, the principal manager will provide development to school leaders in key competencies.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and support to principals:
    • Responsible for providing guidance and support to principals to ensure they are effective in their roles. This may involve observing and evaluating principals' work, providing feedback and coaching, and helping principals develop and implement plans for improving their schools.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures:
    • Responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures that support effective school leadership. This may involve developing guidelines for school improvement, developing standards for principal performance, and creating processes for evaluating and providing feedback to principals.
  • Coordinate professional development:
    • Responsible for coordinating professional development opportunities for principals. This may involve organizing training sessions, workshops, and conferences, and providing resources and support for principals to continue their professional development.
  • Foster collaboration:
    • Responsible for fostering collaboration among principals and other stakeholders, including teachers, parents, and community members. This may involve facilitating meetings and discussions, promoting teamwork, and encouraging open communication.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations:
    • Responsible for ensuring that schools comply with all relevant regulations and policies. This may involve monitoring compliance with federal and state regulations, ensuring that schools adhere to district policies, and conducting investigations and audits as necessary.
  • Maintain relationships with stakeholders:
    • Responsible for maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, including parents, community members, and local officials. This may involve attending meetings, participating in community events, and collaborating with other education professionals.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Certification
    • Masters degree required, Master's degree in Educational Leadership preferred
    • Currently possess Michigan Administrator Certificate (Central Office endorsed) or meet state requirements toward completion
  • Experience
    • Previous experience as secondary school leader/principal and/or central management administrator is required, minimum 5 years
    • Competence in Special Education Laws and Compliance required
    • Competence in Project Based Learning required
    • Developing and delivering high quality professional development
    • Can lead others to successfully complete multi-faceted projects
    • Experience leading major initiatives from concept to implementation
    • Experience executing and implementing high impactful strategy
  • Skills
    • Strong executive presence and leadership skills
    • Ability to perceive, interpret, demonstrate, control, evaluate, and use emotions to communicate with and relate to others effectively and constructively
    • Ability motivate/influence others to outcomes
    • Successfully lead teams through adaptive and complex change
    • Ability to distill essential findings from analysis, determine root causes, and suggest ways to improve current practices
    • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
