Audio / Visual Technician
Purpose

Under the supervision of the Audio / Visual Coordinator, the Audio / Visual Technician for University Presbyterian Church has primary responsibility for the operation of the sound, projection, and light controls during worship and other programs as assigned.

Accountability

Accountable to the Audio / Visual Coordinator or the Director of Worship and Arts as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate the church sound and lighting systems so that all people participating in worship hear all services.
  • Set up and operate video recording/streaming equipment.
  • Report any equipment problems to either the Director of Worship and Arts or the Elder of the Ministry of Worship and Arts as appropriate.
  • Report to the assigned responsibilities at the appointed time, and meet other reporting requirements as assigned. These include worship services, rehearsals, and other events.
  • Video Record and Edit online worship services, Godly Play lessons, social media posts, and other virtual events as needed.
  • Operate livestream equipment for in-person services
  • Operate the lighting controls as directed.
  • Operate the projection equipment, and computer as directed.
  • Operate the recording equipment to record assigned services for the highest quality possible with the equipment supplied.
  • Prepare slides of announcements, pastor notes and song lyrics for all worship services on a weekly basis
  • Lock up church facility after final Sunday services and set alarm if no other staff remain on campus.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Relationships

Works closely with the Director of Worship and Arts, Audio / Visual Technician(s), Pastor(s) and other Staff and Volunteers as needed.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic operation of a sound and visual equipment, microphones, and a 24-Channel sound console or larger.
  • Knowledge of basic lighting controls, projection, computer and AV recording equipment
  • Ability to work on every Sunday assigned, as well as other services or activities requiring Audio / Visual support.
  • Experience as a musician or A-V tech, with the ability to discern dynamics, balance of ensemble voices, and evidence of general musical intuition. Ability to read music is preferred.
  • Ability to work well with lay staff, clergy, and volunteers

Hours

Part time, non-exempt. An average of 2-6 hours a week, every Sunday as assigned, and an occasional wedding, funeral, or special event as Audio/Visual Coordinator’s schedule permits.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.50 per hour

Expected hours: 2 – 6 per week
