Director of Brokerage Operations

Position Overview:

As the Director of Brokerage Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our logistics network, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership to implement strategies, optimize performance, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics management, with proven leadership experience in optimizing operational workflows, managing teams, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. In this role, you will also focus on key areas such as cargo claims, internal operational SOPs, carrier procurement, and managing relationships with third-party vendors integral to our daily brokerage operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the logistics and supply chain departments, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of services.
• Develop and maintain internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for operational workflows, ensuring consistency and compliance across all logistics functions.
• Drive the development and implementation of internal operational performance metrics to assess and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of operations managers and staff.
• Manage cargo claims, ensuring effective resolution and minimizing claims-related costs while improving processes to prevent future occurrences.
• Oversee carrier procurement processes to ensure a reliable, cost-effective network of carriers that meets company and client needs.
• Manage and foster strong relationships with key third-party vendors, ensuring alignment with operational goals and daily brokerage operations.
• Implement strategies to streamline operational processes, reduce costs, and enhance overall efficiency.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance, identify areas for improvement, and ensure operational goals are met.
• Manage the budgeting, forecasting, and cost control of logistics operations.
• Collaborate with other departments, including sales, customer service, and IT, to align operational goals with company objectives.
• Maintain strong relationships with key clients, vendors, and partners to ensure service excellence and resolve any operational challenges.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to maintain a competitive advantage.
• Lead safety initiatives and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in logistics or operations management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong understanding of supply chain and logistics processes, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and distribution.
• Proven track record of improving operational efficiency, driving cost reduction, and achieving business objectives.
• Experience in managing cargo claims, developing internal SOPs, and establishing operational performance metrics.
• Strong knowledge of carrier procurement and managing vendor relationships, especially in the context of third-party brokerage operations.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse workforce.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across various departments and with external stakeholders.
• Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite (experience with TMS/WMS systems is a plus).
