The Safety Manager performs various functions to ensure the safety of personnel at workplaces throughout the enterprise and customer locations.
The job description below shows examples of typical tasks, duties, and responsibilities majorly performed by Safety Manager :
- In partnership with the Chief Compliance Officer, lead the company's Safety Committee
- Establish target areas and long-term accident prevention and cost-control goals
- Prepare and maintain safety records, reports, and formulate correspondence relative to the job
- The Safety Manager investigates safety incidents, identifying the root causes of accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to prevent future occurrences and ensure a safe work environment.
- Monitor and organize special studies and / or analysis of safety programs and policies / procedures
- Organize and take part in assessing already existing safety programs and policies, assessing accident / injury reports, and arranging accident / injury-related statistics
- Establish procedures and recommend changes in policies if the need arises. Recommend solutions to issues, prevention measures, and other avenues for improvement
- Identify the training and development needs of company staff and ensure that the needs are met and tracked for quarterly and annual reporting
- As directed, inspect office and job-site locations for unsafe conditions
- Track and manage the company's fire extinguisher and AED deployments
- Work with identified third-party agencies to support the company's safety program
- Be regularly aware of new developments in safety regulations that are bound to affect the organization
- Act as a representative of the company when it comes to society or industry safety programs
- Provide leadership during safety-threatening crises at the workplace that ensures calmness.
