What are the responsibilities and job description for the Counselor-Day Treatment position at UNLV Medicine?
Under the direction of supervision, the Day Treatment Counselor provides the delivery of rehabilitation skills and interventions to restore clients to highest psychological and behavioral functioning and prevent decomposition and psychiatric hospitalization. Day Treatment counselors assist clients in maintaining community status by increasing functionality in personal care, basic living skills, social skills, communication skills and pre-employment skills and more for the UNLV Medicine-Mojave Counseling.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a social science field
- Maintain QMHA credential with Medicaid, specified in Chapter 400
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of two years’ experience working with targeted population of Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and/or Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED)
- Development of Plan of Care
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of psychiatric medications/affects
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Good organizational and time management skills, able to prioritize and handle multiple responsibilities
- Effective problem solving and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to write clear, concise documentation for record keeping and billing purposes
- Ability to read technical, legal, and scientific documents
- Explain policies, procedures, theories, concepts to clients and/or family
- Excellent crisis management skills
- Knowledge and application of group and rehabilitation plan, development and implementation
- EMR, Advance proficiency in the use of a personal computer, email, current software application, and internet resources
- Ability to operate common office equipment
- Follow through on assignments as directed
- Maintains current Nevada license
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- May include standing, sitting, and/or walking for extended periods
- May include performing repetitive tasks
- May include working on a special schedule (i.e. evenings and weekends with clients)
- May include working with challenging clients
- May include lifting up to 25 pounds
