The per diem advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) serves as a clinical healthcare provider for a diverse population on UNLV’s Maryland Parkway campus and at the Las Vegas Medical District. As a provider in the Student Health Center (SHC) and Faculty and Staff Treatment (FAST) Center, the per diem APRN acts as a healthcare team member and provides direct patient care, in person or via telehealth, to students, faculty, staff, and dependents aged five years and older with acute and chronic health conditions. This care includes assessment, diagnosis, initiation of treatment, patient education, evaluation of responses to treatments, referral to appropriate specialists when indicated, and accurate and timely documentation of all findings concerning the patient in the electronic health record (EHR). The per diem APRN acknowledges the unique characteristics of each patient and provides respectful, culturally competent, and professional clinical services. This per diem APRN position supports the health and mental health of UNLV students, thereby allowing them to succeed in their academic pursuits, and the health and mental health of UNLV employees, in order to assist them in completing their work successfully and efficiently.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing
- Current unrestricted Nevada APRN and Board of Pharmacy licenses
- National Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner
- Current BLS certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- One-year clinical experience as a nurse practitioner in primary care, ambulatory care, college health, or community health setting
The SHC and FAST Center are accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and are part of the Student Wellness Unit at UNLV, which includes the Student Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Behavioral Health, the CARE Center, Wellness Education and Health Promotion, Disability Resource Center, and Office of Student Conduct departments.
