UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Medical Assistant to join our Truman Health Services team. This opportunity is a full-time day shift opening located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Truman Health Services' (THS) is seeking a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a primary focus on processing prescription prior authorizations and periodically providing administrative support to our Behavioral Health Clinic as well as Medical Assistant support in clinic. This is a new responsibility for the Medical Assistant team. The ideal candidate will be flexible, work independently, open to learning, and ability to provide feedback This position would work at THS' Albuquerque-based outpatient clinic during regular business hours (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm). The position may have flexibility to work from home after 6 months.
*Sign-On Bonus - $2,000*
Minimum $37,814 - Midpoint $46,425*
*Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience.
*Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.
Minimum Job Requirements of a Medical Assistant:
1. High school diploma or GED
2. Medical Assistant Program Graduate Certificate and
3. Current Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
4. BLS certification

Summary:
· Performs a range of administrative and clinical tasks in a UNMMG Ambulatory Clinic, including patient registration, scheduling appointments, and handling insurance verification.
· Manages patient interactions both in person and by phone, including check-in/check-out procedures and collecting co-pays.
· Gathers patient data and medical history while executing routine Medical Assistant duties.
