As the Career Preparation Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in helping students reflect on their goals, explore career pathways, and build the technological and professional skills necessary for success in the 21st century.

The Career Preparation Teacher is the cornerstone of UPA’s career exploration program. This unique role combines self-reflection, career learning, and community engagement. Responsibilities
As the Career Preparation Teacher, you will:
- Teach a foundational career-focused course that integrates self-reflection, career exploration, and technology.
- Guide students in developing professional skills, including communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
- Facilitate real-world learning experiences such as job shadowing, career fairs, and field trips.
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, industry leaders, and community organizations to expand opportunities for students.
- Mentor students as they explore career pathways, helping them identify strengths, set goals, and plan for their futures.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure career preparation is seamlessly integrated across UPA’s curriculum.
- Stay current on career trends, workforce needs, and technological advancements to align instruction with real-world demands.
- Foster a classroom culture that values innovation, curiosity, and personal responsibility.

Qualifications
To excel as a UPA Career Preparation Teacher, you will need:
- Bachelor’s Degree (required); a degree in education, career and technical education (CTE), or a related field is preferred.
- Texas Teaching Certification or willingness to pursue certification within the first year; CTE certification or industry experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with middle or high school students (preferred but not required).
- Passion for career exploration, technology integration, and real-world learning.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, families, and community partners.
- A growth mindset, flexibility, and openness to feedback, with a desire for continuous improvement.
- Experience with workforce development, mentorship, or connecting students to professional opportunities (preferred).
