We are seeking compassionate, optimistic, and enthusiastic Direct Support Professionals to assist a wonderful and dynamic young man that lives in his own apartment. Experience in crisis management, including de-escalation and redirection, is essential.
Responsibilities for Daytime Direct Support Staff:
1. Personal Care: Assist with daily hygiene routines, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
2. Meal Preparation: Prepare nutritious meals and snacks according to dietary plans and individual preferences.
3. Medication Administration: Administer medication as prescribed, following proper procedures and documentation guidelines.
4. Daily Activities: Engage in meaningful activities and recreational programs that promote skill development and social interaction.
5. Community Outings: Facilitate trips to community resources, such as parks, libraries, and recreational facilities, to encourage participation and integration.
6. Health Monitoring: Monitor health conditions and report any changes or concerns accordingly.
7. Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of daily activities, individual’s progress, and any incidents according to agency policies.
8. Communication: Communicate effectively with team members to ensure coordinated care and support plans.
*The Daytime Direct Support Professional Position is a 2:1 position. There will be two staff working together with the individual at all times.
Responsibilities for Evening/Overnight Direct Support Staff:
1. Evening Routine: Assist with bedtime preparations, including personal hygiene, bathing, changing into sleepwear, and settling into bed.
2. Evening Medication: Administer evening medications as prescribed, adhering to medication schedules and safety protocols.
3. Safety Checks: Conduct regular safety checks throughout the evening to ensure a secure environment.
4. Supportive Supervision: Provide emotional support to those who may need reassurance or comfort during the evening hours.
5. Nighttime Assistance: Respond to any needs that arise during the night, such as bathroom assistance.
6. Emergency Response: Be prepared to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently, following established protocols and notifying appropriate personnel as needed.
7. Documentation: Document nighttime activities, any incidents and responses during the shift to maintain accurate records.
General Responsibilities for Both Daytime and Evening Staff:
· Person-Centered Approach: Ensure all interactions and care are centered around individual preferences, needs, and goals.
· Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other staff members, supervisors, and external professionals to provide holistic care and support.
· Adherence to Policies and Procedures: Follow agency policies, procedures, and regulations related to care, safety, and documentation.
· Professional Development: Participate in training sessions, workshops, and ongoing education opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
· Promotion of Independence: Encourage and support in making choices, developing skills, and achieving greater independence in daily activities.
These responsibilities outline many of the duties and expectations for daytime and evening/overnight Direct Support Staff but are not all inclusive. These responsibilities seek to ensure consistent comprehensive care and support.
Requirements:
· Experience and training in crisis management
· Minimum 3 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
· Willingness to undergo drug screening and fingerprint background checks
· Possession of a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and car insurance
Job Type: Part-Time/Full-Time
Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour

· 9:30pm-8:30am-Overnight (STAFF ARE REQUIRED TO BE AWAKE DURING THE SHIFT)
· 9am-3pm (Saturdays)

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
· Minimum 3 years of experience with developmental disabilities
· Crisis management experience and training
License/Certification:
· Valid driver's license
· CPR Certification
