What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Specialist position at UNX-Christeyns?
Purpose:
Performs functions to evaluate raw materials, in-process, and finished formulations under supervision and according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Position Responsibilities:
· Responsible for sampling and analysis of incoming raw materials and outgoing finished goods.
· Maintain chemical storage areas (analysis / retain) and associated sampling equipment.
· Generate documentation associated with sampling, testing, and disposal of raw materials and finished good samples.
· Responsible for conducting/documenting laboratory and production electrochemical meter calibrations.
· Supervise regulated production batches, ensuring manufacturing procedures and raw material usage adhere to EPA specifications.
· Document accurate and legible laboratory notebooks and worksheets.
· Communicate with the lab manager and quality supervisor for guidance and direction of projects.
Other Duties:
· Prioritize job quality by identifying areas for improvement and actively participate in weekly meetings with area supervisors to discuss concerns and potential enhancements.
· Adhere to all safety protocols, promptly reporting discrepancies, issues, or unsafe situations to the appropriate personnel.
· Maintain a clean and organized work environment, promoting workplace efficiency and safety.
Qualifications:
· ASc in Chemistry or an equivalent scientific discipline degree with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a laboratory setting
· Basic knowledge of technical documentation (COAs, manuals, SDS, etc.)
· Be driven and dependable while demonstrating honesty and integrity
· Basic knowledge of instrumental technologies and wet chemistry methods (pH-Ion, titrations, density measurements, etc.)
· Capable of working both independently and as an integral part of a team
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to occasionally lift and handle items weighing over 50 lbs without assistance
· Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals and active chemical ingredients, requiring adherence to safety protocols and procedures
