Overview
UofL Health Physicians is looking for Medical Assistant Training Program Applicants! This is a 6-8 week education program designed to teach team members on how to function as ahigh performing, competent medical assistant.
Responsibilities
Participate in a 6–8-week medical assistant training program. Take and pass NHA CCMA exam. Complete onsite training at ULP offices/clinics for an additional 6-8 weeks. Once training is completed, team members will transition into CCMA roles within ULP. Per the hiring work agreement, team members will have to work for ULP for a minimum of 24 months following completion of the program. Some essential skills that will be taught throughout this program is as follows:
• Obtaining a patient’s medical, social, and family history
• Triage of patients
• Reviewing and reconciling medication list in EHR
• Showing competence in performing essential clinical duties (labs, EKG’s, vital signs, etc.)
• Showing competence in essential non-clinical duties (referrals, scheduling, etc.)
• Responding timely and appropriately to job specific and assigned tasks
• Scheduling tests and procedures per provider orders
• Administering medication injections per provider order (i.e., Hepatitis A&B, PPD and flu vaccine)
• Ordering medication refills as indicated per provider protocol
• How to reports any abnormal results to provider immediately (i.e., labs, tests, procedures, etc.)
• How to maintain clean exam rooms
• Proficient use of EHR
• Use of AIDET and soft skills
• Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain patient confidentiality at all times
• Applicable organizational policy and procedures
Qualifications
Education:
• High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) required.
• Completion of a healthcare education/training program preferred. Training:
• Must complete entire ULP Medical Assistant Training Program.
Experience:
• Previous employment within a healthcare setting is preferred.
Certification:
• Must pass the NHA CCMA exam to graduate program.
• BLS through American Heart Association (required). Other:
