About the unit

The Surgical Services Department at Jewish Hospital consists of the following three areas: Main Hospital; Heart Hospital; and Outpatient Care Center, which includes the Hand Care Center. Surgical Services is open 24 hours a day and 365 days a year to ensure all surgeries, including emergencies, are completed and the community’s health needs are met. Our service lines include Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Robotics, General, Colorectal, Urology, Transplant, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, ENT, Dental, Plastics, Hands, and Oral Maxillofacial. In total, we have 30 operating rooms, 2 of which are considered Hybrid rooms equipped to perform endovascular, robotic, and cardiothoracic surgeries. Our staff take pride in offering excellent care to our patients, as well as their families.

About Jewish Hospital

The center also includes a Pancreas Disease Center, a GI Motility Clinic, and Advanced Heart Failure and VAD programs.

Responsibilities

The RN Shift Coordinator in the Operating Room will provide support and will work collaboratively with the Clinical Manager and the Director. The Shift Coordinator will hold staff accountable on his/her shift and provide feedback to Clinical Manager. The Shift Coordinator is an extension of the Clinical Manager and is empowered to address issues and concerns on his/her respective shift. This staff member will work 1/3rd of her/his shifts in staffing.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Licensed or eligible for license in Kentucky

Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required for some units

Associate’s degree from accredited college or University

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from accredited college or University
