UP Excellence Academy is seeking a passionate and results-driven 6th Grade Teacher to join our instructional team. This teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction that builds students’ conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and mathematical fluency. The ideal candidate is committed to student success, culturally responsive teaching, and creating an engaging, structured learning environment where all students can excel.
There are four positions available : Math, Science, Social Studies & Reading. Please indicate your subject preference on your resume.
Key Responsibilities Instructional Excellence
- Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned math instruction that meets the diverse needs of students.
- Implement the UP Excellence Instructional Model.
- Use experiential learning strategies to deepen student engagement and real-world application of mathematical concepts.
- Differentiate instruction to support all learners, including emergent bilinguals and students with special needs.
- Regularly analyze student data and adjust instruction to ensure mastery of concepts.
- Utilize checks for understanding to monitor student progress and provide timely feedback.
Classroom Culture & Student Engagement
- Establish a structured and supportive classroom environment aligned with school-wide expectations.
- Build strong, positive relationships with students, fostering a growth mindset and love for learning.
- Implement classroom management strategies that maximize instructional time and minimize disruptions.
- Infuse culturally responsive teaching practices into daily instruction to affirm students’ backgrounds and experiences.
Professionalism & Collaboration
- Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and professional development sessions.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and instructional coaches to refine teaching practices.
- Communicate effectively with families to support student learning and academic growth.
- Uphold high expectations for self, students, and the school community.
Schoolwide Commitment

- Assist with duties such as morning arrival, dismissal, lunch, and hallway transitions.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required (Math, Education, or related field preferred).
- Certification: Texas Teacher Certification in Math (4-8) preferred, but not required.
- Experience: Minimum of one year of teaching experience in an urban or high-needs setting preferred.
