Position Summary:
The Cafeteria Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of the school’s food service program. This individual is responsible for organizing the kitchen and serving area, overseeing meal service, maintaining accurate records through the Point of Sale (POS) system, and ensuring a clean and safe dining environment for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Service Operations:
- Organize and prepare the kitchen and serving area for daily meal service.
- Serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure all meals meet established nutritional guidelines and portion sizes.
- Record Management:
- Operate and manage the Point of Sale (POS) system to track meal counts and maintain accurate records.
- Monitor inventory levels and report supply needs to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to school food service programs.
- Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Clean the kitchen, serving area, and cafeteria after each meal service.
- Ensure all equipment and surfaces are sanitized and meet health and safety standards.
- Dispose of waste properly and maintain cleanliness standards throughout the cafeteria.
- Team Leadership:
- Coordinate and guide food service staff to ensure smooth operations during meal times.
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, and administrators regarding meal schedules and any concerns.
- Health and Safety Compliance:
- Follow all food safety and hygiene protocols.
- Conduct routine checks of kitchen equipment and report any maintenance needs.
Work Hours:
- Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
Compensation:
- $15.00 per hour.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in food service, preferably in a school or institutional setting.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards (Food Handler’s Certification preferred).
- Proficiency in operating a Point of Sale (POS) system or willingness to learn.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Capability to work in a fast-paced environment.
