Job Description:
UP Excellence Academy is seeking a skilled and dedicated Math Interventionist to enhance student success in mathematics across grade levels. The Math Interventionist will collaborate with teachers to improve instructional practices, ensure the effective implementation of high-quality instructional materials (HQIM), and support student achievement through personalized learning plans and targeted interventions.
This position combines coaching, data-driven decision-making, and direct instructional support to empower teachers and help students excel in mathematics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Professional Learning Communities (PLCs):
- Host and lead two weekly PLCs focused on the internalization and execution of HQIM.
- Facilitate discussions and activities that improve math instructional practices and student outcomes.
- Data-Driven Instruction:
- Assist teachers in creating personalized learning plans by triangulating student data from assessments, classroom observations, and performance trends.
- Provide actionable insights to guide targeted interventions and instructional adjustments.
- Instructional Support:
- Model effective math lessons and co-teach occasionally to demonstrate best practices in math instruction.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop clear instructional goals and monitor progress toward achieving them.
- Conduct informal classroom observations and contribute to formal observations, offering constructive feedback to enhance instructional delivery.
- Targeted Math Interventions:
- Develop and implement systems for identifying students in need of accelerated math support.
- During the second semester, lead two daily accelerated learning groups, each lasting 40 minutes, focusing on closing learning gaps and advancing mathematical proficiency.
- Capacity Building:
- Support teachers in deepening their understanding of math content and pedagogy to meet diverse student needs effectively.
- Provide ongoing professional development and resources to strengthen math instruction.
- Collaboration:
- Partner with school leadership and instructional teams to align math goals with school-wide initiatives.
- Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of UP Excellence Academy’s math program.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Mathematics or related areas. (preferred, not required )
- Proven experience in math instruction, coaching, and curriculum implementation.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and act on student data effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with teachers, students, and families.
- Familiarity with HQIM, math intervention strategies, and data-driven instruction.
- Commitment to the mission and vision of UP Excellence Academy.
Performance Metrics:
- Effectiveness of PLCs in improving teacher practice and student outcomes in math.
