SUMMARY:

Ensures effective coordination with inbound and outbound freight movements, including shuttle service activities for customer orders. This position will be working closely with our Third-Party Logistics team.

ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reports to the Technical Director.
  • Works with all departments to accomplish mill goals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage inventory as well as warehouse, transportation, and other logistic processes.
  • Complete order entry data for orders.
  • Develop new strategies to streamline processes and reduce cost.
  • Coordinate with carriers for transportation and negotiate rates and contracts.
  • Track and report logistics costs.
  • Participate in software changes and upgrades.

INTERDEPARTMENTAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Requires adaptability/flexibility to work with all departments of the mill to accomplish goals.
  • Cross train with Machine Scheduler.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Communicate effectively with our rail service provider and our Third-Party Logistics team.
  • Direct inbound or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality management.
  • Respond to and resolve complaints and problems in a timely manner.
  • Develop and improve carrier & papermill relationships by providing excellent customer service and communicating in a professional and solutions-orientated manner.
  • Maintain electronic spreadsheets for Month end inventory, outbound shipments, inventory loads made and to update the inbound and outbound freight schedule.
  • Must be able to work and communicate with customers, drivers, loaders, and shuttlers.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:

  • Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field such as supply chain management, logistics and transportation, or business administration.
  • Great interpersonal skills with ability to influence others.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Strong team player.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in MS Office including Excel, Word, etc.
  • Must be comfortable with and able to set up and use video conferencing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands, arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is regularly required to sit.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds.

SAFE WORK PRACTICES:

  • Diligently monitor work area for any potential safety hazards and react appropriately/efficiently to eliminate potential accidents.
  • Complete accident reports as needed, with support from the EHS Manager.
  • Support operations management team in safety program initiatives.

CLOTHING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Steel toed and slip resistant boots/shoes when in production areas.
  • Safety glasses will be supplied and are required at all times in the production area.
  • Ear plugs required in ALL Production areas.
