What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager position at Up Your Axe?
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and competent full-time candidate eager to join our team! Not only will this be for Up Your Axe, but for our upcoming expansion as well!
You will play a key role in the leadership of the bar side and axe throwing. We are looking for someone with a passion for creating a great experience for guests, as well as someone with strong supervisory experience in the entertainment industry. Strong candidates will have skills in customer service, policy enforcement, reliability, and team member training/growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer cashbox and till handling processes and procedures.
- Execution promotions and special events.
- Create a positive experience for guests and maximize sales opportunities.
- Assist customers with questions and bookings.
- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Resolve customer complaints in a polite and understanding manner.
- Promote and sell merchandise and services to customers.
- Notify ownership of reviews less than five stars and negative comments; Explanations of what happened through written and oral reports.
- Encourage customers to share and review their experiences via online outlets (Social Media, Google, Yelp, etc.).
- Engage with customers through the entirety of their visit, ensuring a fun and satisfying experience.
- Ensure the safety of all guests through strict adherence to the ‘Up Your Axe’ axe-throwing rules and procedures.
- Follows retail inventory procedures.
- Solve problems among internal relations with employees.
- Effectively communicate with employees and ownership.
- Relay concerns or issues with employees to ownership, should any situation escalate past the manager’s ability to resolve.
- Display a professional role-model status for team members.
- Notify ownership of over-achieving team members for potential incentives.
- Follow and apply company procedures for opening and closing the facility.
- Maintain frequent communication with higher-level management regarding overall operations, needs, concerns, and customer feedback.
- Axe throwing coaching (this will be trained internally).
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Brings a creative entrepreneurial spirit to their day-to-day activities with an open and flexible “whatever the day demands” attitude.
- 2-5 years of experience in hospitality, service, and/or retail management.
- Demonstrates excellence in oral and written communication.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate to diverse audiences (age, disabilities, culture, etc.)
- Exemplifies a strong commitment to the brand, mission, and core values.
- Competency with point-of-sale (POS) and database systems including admissions, memberships, retail sales, and scheduling.
- Experience with Square POS System and Quickbooks, but not essential – full training will be given.
- Ability to cultivate and build strong community relationships.
- Availability to work weekends and some holidays.
- Able to lift 50 pounds.
MUST-HAVES
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills for bar/restaurant, people, and potential liabilities.
- Proficiency with Google Suite tools (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive, Gmail, etc.).
- Multi-tasking capability and time management skills.
- People-speaking skills and customer/public relations experience.
