Job Description

Summary This position is responsible for managing projects of various sizes. Is responsible for the planning, layout, installation, testing, and repair of wiring, electrical fixtures, switchgear, panels, apparatus, motors, equipment, and control systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. In addition, this position is also responsible for coordinating the efforts of all sub-contractors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Plans wiring and installation of equipment and fixtures such as motors, generators, switches, circuit breakers, and fuse boxes.

Inspects wiring and fixtures for conformance to company specifications or local electrical codes.

Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.

Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.

Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers and assigns duties.

Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the work crew.

Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.

Maintains time and production records

Estimates, requisitions and inspects materials.

Examines/inspects field conditions to identify problems, inaccuracies, changes and cost saving measures that arise or may be encountered.

Maintains a professional, courteous relationship with other contractors.

Performs activities of workers supervised when necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises 10 to 20 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education And/or Experience

High School diploma or equivalent general education degree

Secondary electrical training from a technical school or apprenticeship training program.

A minimum of ten years' experience with three to five years supervisory or leadership experience.

Master Electrician’s license a plus

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Qualifications

Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code

Knowledge of OSHA contraction safety regulations.

Must have all necessary licenses for the area in which the work is to be performed.

Valid driver's license
