Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:
The Warehouse Manager is to provide direct daily supervision of warehouse associates to achieve optimal levels of productivity, quality, and safety to create internal and external customer satisfaction.
Essential Job Functions:
- Lead, plan, organize, and control the operation of the warehouse
- Set goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company plans and vision and communicate them to associates
- Develop and maintain a specified inventory transaction metric to measure accuracy
- Update warehouse policies and procedures as needed
- Maintain and ensure proper use of all warehouse equipment
- Assist in developing a program to train and motivate personnel for increased effectiveness
- Supervise and assist in daily warehouse and shipping areas
- Manage the periodic maintenance of all equipment, fixtures and fabric on warehouse premises
- Make recommendation to the Operations Director on programs to improve warehouse operations
- Develop and maintain a productive work team through training and professional development
- Assist the Operations Director in planning space utilization and suggest methods for improving layout
- Supervise the checking of outgoing and incoming freight for proper counts and codes
- Establish, maintain and promote high standards of customer service
- Supervise the relocation and consolidation of product as required
- Assist in conducting physical inventories as required
- Ensure the proper stock rotation
- Liaise with drivers, customers and warehouse associates
- Maintain effective internal control over product flow and inventory
- Manage and maintain adherence to both customer and company standard operating procedures to allow the accurate, timely, and safe handling of goods
- Interpret company policies to associates and enforce safety regulations
- Recommend measures to improve the quality of service and increase efficiency of department
- Participate in the selection process of new associates, train incoming associates
- Other duties as assigned by Warehouse Management
Basic Qualifications:
- Broad knowledge of warehouse operations
- Effective oral and written communication skills at all levels regarding supervision, counseling and discipline
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize and delegate work
- Proficient with computers
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures and maintenance instructions.
- Knowledge of general business computer software and aptitude to learn new software applications.
Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge:
- Forklift certification
- Familiar with a pallet operation
Education and/or Experience:
- At least 4 years experience managing within a warehouse environment with P&L responsibility
- At least 3 years experience operating a forklift
- Bachelors Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
