Legal Secretary/Administrative Assistant
Midsized Hartford area Law Firm has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Legal Secretary/Administrative Assistant. Our firm offers competitive salary and benefits, sophisticated work, and a collegial work environment.
The preferred candidate will have 3 plus years of experience, be passionate about client service, be well-organized, have a strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills. Experience in corporate real estate and/or litigation helpful.
Responsibilities:
- Scanning, saving, and filing documents internally and externally on client portals
- Organizing and linking documents into PDF files to create closing binders
- Drafting and reviewing legal correspondence and documents
- Proofreading Legal documents for errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting
- Coordinate court filings including E-filings
- Indexing and updating pleadings and discovery binders
- Preparing documents for execution and delivery
- Preparing and collecting information for conflict-of-interest checks, opening of new files and maintaining existing client files
- Posting to and maintaining attorney calendars
- Making and answering phone calls in a professional and courteous manner
- Other responsibilities as needed
Requirements:
- 3 years of executive administrative experience, preferably in the legal field
- Familiarity with legal terminology and documentation
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite of products, specifically Word and Excel
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Superior organizational and communication skills
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Must be very knowledgeable in creation and editing of PDF files
- Must have a strong grasp of spelling and grammar
- Ability to work with a team of Lawyers and support staff
- Detailed oriented
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Must be able to work in the office on a full-time schedule
