JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the OpenAg Facilities Manager, the Greenhouse Technician will aid in both greenhouse and controlled environment settings to support the cultivation and growth of a variety of crops in UPL’s greenhouses.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Seed, transplant, fill pots, maintain plants, and assist with greenhouse sanitation as needed.
Apply Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles and carry out scouting and pesticide applications when necessary.
Assist other teams with harvests, measurements, and plantings on an as needed basis.
Maintain greenhouse media and consumables inventory.
Any other duties assigned by manager.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The candidate must be self-motivated and possess the initiative to identify and solve problems with minimum guidance.
Minimum 1 year of experience growing plants in greenhouses or controlled environments.
4-year degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in a scientific or agricultural discipline.
Ability to work in the United States on an on-going basis without company sponsorship.
Must be willing to obtain and maintain NC Pesticide Applicator’s License.
Must be able to work in greenhouse conditions and lift 50 pounds.
