Position Title: Graduate Nurse - Medical/Surgical Unit
Location: Upland Hills Health - Dodgeville Hospital Campus
Role & Department: Graduate Nurse on the Medical/Surgical Unit
Hours & Shift: Part-time (.75 FTE) evening/night shift position, 12 hour scheduled shifts with shift times of 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., every 4th weekend and alternating holidays
Role Responsibilities:
- Graduate nurse candidates will have an extended orientation to develop a strong foundation in Medical/Surgical nursing, organization, and critical thinking skills
- The Graduate Nurse will also attend the WI Nurse Residency Program
- Upon successful completion of Med/Surg orientation and mastery of nursing skills, the Graduate Nurse will cross train to another nursing department
- Will be responsible for assessing the needs of each patient assigned
- Planning the nursing care and then following through with that care plan
- Care for the patient includes the evaluation of the spiritual, emotional and physiological needs
- Will also provide the oversight of subordinate personnel in the care of the patients
- Continued interest in professional growth through continuing education, in-services, participation in professional organizations, and involvement in health promotional activities
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or will soon graduate from a school of nursing, new or upcoming graduates are encouraged to apply
- Must be eligible to write the board examination in the near future
- Must be licensed and hold a current registration as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin or in the process of becoming licensed
- Current BLS certification
- ACLS certification preferred
- Prior nursing services experiences are preferred, but not essential
- The ideal candidate will be willing to cross train to other nursing departments to assist as needed
- Outstanding verbal and written communications
- Prior EPIC knowledge is beneficial
