Job Overview
As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and special needs. Your primary responsibility will be to provide compassionate care and support, fostering independence and promoting personal growth. Duties
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Document daily progress notes, medication administration, and health/behavior tracking with attention to detail to ensure the health and safety of clients.
- Provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their needs are met with dignity and respect.
- Use critical thinking to respond to medical, behavior, or other crises according to individual support documents and group home policies.
- Engage clients in social activities and drive them to community activities to promote social skills and integration.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, adhering to hygiene standards.
- Lift/turn and assist clients as necessary, ensuring their comfort and safety during mobility.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to carry out personalized care plans.
Experience
Ideal candidates will possess experience or training in caregiving or social work, particularly in working with individuals with disabilities. Familiarity with autism support strategies is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to the unique needs of each individual. Heartsaver and OIS certifications are a plus but not mandatory; training will be provided as needed.
Requirements
- Valid Oregon driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Ability to commute to Tualatin, OR (97062)
- Education: High school diploma or GED
- Experience: 6 months of caregiving or working with individuals with developmental disabilities

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 48 per week
