UPMC Central Pa is accepting experienced as well as new graduate physician assistant candidates to join the Emergency Medicine Department APEP program.
Goals of APEP Program : To provide consistent, evidence based, and structured education on specialty specific; typical and atypical patient presentations. The focus will be on appropriate management, intervention, and the disposition of the Emergency Department Patient
Program Structure : The 12–month program will follow the NCCPA content blueprint which includes cardiovascular, dermatologic, endocrine, eyes, ears, nose, throat, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, hematologic, musculoskeletal, neurologic, psycho–behavioral, pulmonary, renal, reproductive, environmental, infectious disease, toxicology, trauma, procedures, and other skills.

- Rotating 4 central PA hospital emergency departments :
- Harrisburg Hospital urban setting with 61,000 visits per year, 52–Bed Emergency Department
- Community General Hospital community setting with 31,000 visits per year, 21 bed Emergency Department
- West Shore Hospital community setting with 27,000 visits per year, 28 bed Emergency Department
- Carlisle Hospital community setting with 27,000 visits per year, 27 bed Emergency Department
- Staffed by a strong, experienced APP team
- EPIC EMR system–wide
