Then this position is for you! \nOur GN transition program is designed to give a Nurse a great foundation in nursing by starting off with a year of experience on one of our Med-Surg units with shadow opportunities in our Surgical / OR areas each quarter. After one year, the nurse will have the opportunity to explore / transition into a professional staff nurse role in a Surgical / OR position. \nUPMC Passavant McCandless is currently hiring a full time Professional Staff Nurse to join our 6 South Surgical Oncology Unit. Gaining experience on this unit will better prepare nurses to transition into one of our Surgical Services areas. \nThis Fast Track Surgical / OR program is designed to equip you with the skills that you need to become a successful and confident Nurse! \nIn this time, it is our goal to help new graduate and experienced nurses gain the knowledge and skill set required in caring for the diverse patient population of UPMC Passavant. \nANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant currently hiring a Full-Time Staff Nurse to support our 6 South Surgical Oncology Unit at the McCandless location. \n About the Unit : \n\n6 South is a 24 bed surgical oncology unit that specializes in the pre and post op phase of surgery. Identifies opportunities for improvement on the clinical area\n\n\n \n\n\tZero to one year of experience.\n\tOne year experience preferred\n\tCompletion of UPMC student nurse internship or student clinical transitions course at UPMC preferred\n\tBSN preferred.\n\tAbility to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients / families.\n\tAbility to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple / changing priorities and specialized equipment.\n\tCritical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.\n\tGood clinical judgment.\n\tCritical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process.\n\tMobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients.\n\n\n \nLicensure, Certifications, and Clearances : \n\n\n\tCurrent Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse\n\tCPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire\n\tMust complete licensure examination within FOUR MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first.
