Responsibilities:
- Assists technical staff by preparing the exam room, ensuring all necessary equipment and materials are ready, and helping the Technologist as directed during procedures.
- Demonstrates the ability to maintain confidentiality by handling sensitive matters discreetly and exercising sound judgment when addressing controversial or sensitive topics.
- Enhances the image of UPMC by fostering professional relationships with colleagues and patients, promoting a positive and supportive environment within the organization.
- Answers incoming calls, routes them to appropriate personnel, and takes messages when necessary, ensuring effective communication across the department.
- Works cooperatively with patients, medical staff, and other personnel to maintain positive and efficient working relationships, contributing to a harmonious environment.
- Exhibits a commitment to Service Excellence by understanding the needs of patients, their families, physicians, and co-workers, ensuring tasks are completed accurately, timely, and with sensitivity.
- Performs image processing duties, ensuring high-quality images are prepared for radiologists and technicians, following proper protocols and procedures.
- Completes data entry into the Radiology Information System (RIS) as directed by the Technologist, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness of patient information. Assists in patient transfers and transports, maintaining safety and comfort throughout the process.
Required:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills due to high degree of interaction with physicians and patients
Preferred:
- One year of patient care experience
- Radiology experience
Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
